OUR STORY

Who is behind Pixel Directive?

Pixel Directive was founded by Tim Moore, a United States military veteran and former Federal Aviation Administration IT specialist. Tim brings over a decade of experience in systems engineering, software development, and team leadership across high-stakes government environments. After years of building mission-critical technology for the federal sector, he channeled that discipline and precision into indie game development.

Co-founded with Tina Moore, Pixel Directive is a family-run veteran-owned small business. Tina handles operations, community management, and quality assurance, ensuring that every game meets the studio's high standards before it reaches players.

The Break

In early 2025, Tim left the Federal Aviation Administration after the workplace environment shifted away from his core values of integrity, transparency, and mission-first thinking. Rather than compromise on principles, he chose to leave the federal sector and build a company where culture and character come first. That decision became the catalyst for everything Pixel Directive would become.

The Build

Following a period of consulting and freelance software work, Tim founded Pixel Directive to merge veteran discipline with creative freedom. The studio was built from scratch with a clear philosophy: a small, focused team can deliver high-quality results without bureaucracy, bloated budgets, or compromised vision. Every line of code, every design decision, and every gameplay mechanic reflects the same standard of excellence that military service demands.

What games does Pixel Directive make?

Most games focus on being the hero. We think it is more fun to bend the rules. Our mission is simple: “Live Good, Play Evil.” We build fast-paced, hilariously chaotic games for players who prefer creative mischief over following a script. Our debut title, Kiki's Cake Sort, is a villain-themed puzzle game that challenges players to outsmart increasingly complex scenarios through cunning and strategy rather than brute force.

Every game we build is designed to surprise. We draw inspiration from classic arcade mechanics, modern roguelikes, and the unpredictable chaos of tabletop games. Whether you are a casual player looking for a quick session or a completionist chasing high scores, our games are built to keep you coming back.

What makes Pixel Directive different?

As a veteran-owned indie studio, we operate with a level of accountability and work ethic that sets us apart. We do not chase trends or rely on microtransactions. We build complete, polished experiences that respect the player's time and money. Our military background means we plan meticulously, execute efficiently, and never ship something we are not proud of.

We are committed to accessibility, transparency, and community. Our development process is open, our communication is honest, and our games are designed to be enjoyed by as many players as possible. Pixel Directive is proof that independent studios can compete on quality without sacrificing integrity.

Join the Squad: 2027

We are currently lean and focused on Kiki's Cake Sort, with plans to scale in 2027. We want to build our future team in Northern California. If you are a military veteran or veteran dependent please send a resume to the email on our contact page.
